Whenever I head back into an old favorite MMO or try out a new one, my top priority is to find a great guild. I know from experience that this has the power to influence long-term retention in a game and make me feel accepted and energized.

But what makes for a good MMO guild? That’s a little hard for me to put in stark terms, as it’s most often something I feel out. It’s a guild that’s welcoming, friendly, not full of ego-seeking loons, organized, and helpful.

What am I missing from that list? What would you say are some of the qualities that make for a really solid MMO guild that you’d want to join?
