If you’ve been watching Hello Games’ Sean Murray tweet bacon emoji like it’s 2010 all week, then you probably had a pretty good clue that something was coming for No Man’s Sky. Unfortunately, it’s not bacon, but it is Beacon, the latest large-scale and totally free update to the sprawling space MMO.

“Expand your planetary empire in No Man’s Sky Beacon,” the website commands. “Become Overseer of multiple planetary settlements, and discover the townships of the secretive robotic Autophage. Introducing improved settlement balance, more variety of management decisions, building upgrades, infestations, new base parts and more!”

You read that right; Beacon allows players to govern as many as four settlements on the galactic frontier, as you try to keep your little dudes happy and safe from sentinel attacks. Got some Sim City in your NMS, and you’re not even mad about it, are you.

As part of today’s announcements, Hello Games also revealed an updated edition of the game for Nintendo Switch 2, available tomorrow with the launch of the console. ” Featuring full multiplayer, beautiful high resolution graphics, touch controls, increased planetary detail, higher framerates, high-res UI, gyro aiming, cross-play and cross-save support to continue your existing journey,” the studio promises.
