If you’re a high-level Star Trek Online player, you’re probably very familiar with the endeavor system: It’s the system that grants various daily tasks in order to earn endeavor XP, which can in turn be spent on perk points for captains that are shared account-wide. That system is getting some new additions in the MMO’s June update with the hopes of having more to chase for long-term players.Play Star Trek Online for free
First off, the maximum endeavor rank is being raised from 750 to 1250, which naturally comes with entirely new perks as well such as boosts to armor penetration on ground missions, recharge reduction times for various officer abilities in space combat, and increases to ship damage. The added ranks will also bring new rewards like titles and a vanity shield, while everything else about the system will remain the same.
Reaction to the system updates appear to be mixed. Fans on Twitter and Reddit are appreciative that endeavors are seeing some love, but others are pointing out other problems with the system that adding new ranks won’t address, such as the lack of variance in missions, the long grind towards cap as it is, and the fact that there’s no catch-up system for XP earnings for new players, although some are arguing against including such a mechanic.
The update is set to go live this morning after maintenance, along with new story, new updates, and a new T6 battlecruiser.
