So Final Fantasy XI has had Limbus for a while, but Limbus doesn’t really refer to a specific type of content in the game. Limbus is more of a concept. It’s a region that encompasses a couple of zones but doesn’t have a distinct content identity. Until now!

All right, until the June version update, close enough. The update brings in actual Limbus content, starting with some monsters and gameplay elements for what will ultimately be content designed to help players reforge artifact and relic armor. You’ll be able to head to +4, and while there are no notorious monsters in there just yet… y’know, look forward to that in the not-too-distant future.

The version update will also include new Ambuscade battles as always, as well as a new style of rewards for the fifth round of the Vana’bout event. This implementation is still just a test run, but the plan is to make better use of it moving forward. Check out the full preview ahead of the patch’s arrival.
