Palia launches Radiance Rising this week – here’s the content-packed roadmap

During our Elderwood preview for Palia earlier this year, Singularity 6 mentioned that a roadmap for the mini-MMO would be along after the release – and as of this afternoon, the studio has made good on that plan.

Radiance Rising is the name of the next patch, and it’s rolling out on June 12th. It’ll expand Elderwood with a zone event called Piksii Blossom Bounce, a new quest called Hunt for Prismbeard’s Treasure, a new quest for a pet (this’ll open courier functionality for everyone, even if you didn’t pay for it), a massive storage increase (to 14,000 items), and new decor and plushies.

Amusingly, one of those plushies is literally a throwback to Free Realms, courtesy of Daybreak owning both games. Nice.

Later in the year, however, the team is planning the implementation of the animal husbandry skill, with natural integration with cooking and farming. The team said it’ll launch with some basic animals and then expand with more animals as time marches on. Likewise, the team is planning a major revision to housing and an update for the main story and the newest NPC and content that aligns with real-world seasons.

Even further down the line, we can expect a new content-delivery system that will ensure we’re getting narrative stuff every patch. And of course, eventually, we’re getting new co-op housing system and more zones.

“You didn’t think Elderwood was the end, right… RIGHT?!! We’ve started planning some longer-lead mechanics, features, and areas that we’re incredibly excited about. While we’re not ready to go into a whole lot of detail, the team is rallying to ship some larger-scale gameplay initiatives down the line, including Shared Housing, and… the next Adventure Zone!!!”

Palia seems to be doing quite well for itself if its Steam numbers are anything to go by; as I type this, the game crested at over 12,000 concurrent just last night, and we can only assume consolers are equally content in Kilima. We sure are.
