Yep, we’re checking in on Dune: Awakening’s first couple of days of life again, only this time it’s for the actual real launch instead of the high-dollar headstart. Not only that but we’re happy to report that things appear to be going really well, which can often be astonishing news for a Funcom game.
Right now Dune is enjoying a “very positive” Steam review score, with most calling the game great fun even with some bugs, though there are a couple of others who suggest soloers will be in for a rough time if they don’t find a group to play with. The game also saw over 142K players in-game at its latest all-time peak; as of this writing, there’s just over 100,000 people trying to avoid becoming worm snackies this morning.
As for updates to the game, every patch released so far has been focused on stability and bug squashing, with multiple notes about improving backend systems and servers and fixes addressing NPC behavior, UI, quest snarl-ups, and dialogue, among other specific matters. The real test will come during this weekend, of course, but for now things seem to be humming along.
