This week begins another new season in Overwatch 2, which means that there are a bunch of new things going on to kick off another round of superheroes shooting other superheroes in their superheroic faces.

Some of the larger updates with Season 17 are focused on the Stadium mode, with three more characters coming to the roster over the course of the season, two more well-known maps arriving with some mode-specific tweaks, a rank reset, and a Stadium Forge feature that will let players test and share team compositions.

The new season will once more give players the opportunity to express their open disdain for things in the game with the arrival of map voting for quick play and competitive, while the new Aatlis map for the regular game’s Flashpoint mode takes players into the streets of a futuristic Morocco that’s “built for tighter fights, cleaner rotations, and fast paced momentum.” Or it will be despised and voted into dust. Time will tell.

Finally of note are two new mini-events that will deploy across the season’s run: Players will get four free epic lockboxes for completing 17 matches in the Powered Up event from June 24th to the 30th, and Hacks & Hijinx adds a limited-time mode that applies rotating match modifiers every round between July 15th and 28th.
