How do you cram a whole gaggle of heroes and villains from the DC Comics universe into your pocket? Without rolling up stacks of comic books and ramming them down your pants, anyway? Why, you create a mobile game, and that mobile game is DC Worlds Collide, a self-described “mobile squad RPG” that lets players form teams of their favorite DC characters and pit them in turn-based RPG battles.

“Developed by Warner Bros. Games San Francisco and inspired by the DC comic storylines in ‘Trinity War’ and ‘Forever Evil,’ DC Worlds Collide features a thrilling storyline where the Crime Syndicate from another Universe has invaded Earth. Players must unite a team of the mightiest Super Heroes and Super-Villains in strategic 3D battles to stop this twisted Justice League from destroying the world.”

The strategy in question appears to come mostly from putting together the right characters from a roster of over 70 heroes and villains to engage some superheroic synergies in battle, as well as the turn-based battle system that brings to mind any number of classic RPG titles. The game offers plenty of PvE and PvP activities such as solo modes, competitive modes, increasingly challenging boss battles, and 5v5 arena modes, and further promises more characters post-launch.

As for when that launch will come, an FAQ explains that it will make a global arrival sometime this year for both iOS and Android devices. In the meantime, players can pre-register for piles of goodies as is standard operating procedure for pretty much every mobile title ever released.
