Want to make your own rules in Once Human instead of waiting for NetEase’s Starry Studio to make a seasonal server ruleset that fits your preferences? Then you’ll want to pay attention to the studio’s plans to rent out custom servers to players starting on Thursday, June 5th.
Starry points out that this feature is considered to be in an “early access” state, meaning that “some features may still be incomplete, and unexpected issues may arise during the early stages,” while additional features like custom gear, gameplay modifications, and item sales are being planned for later.
With that in mind, these custom servers don’t support data sharing, which means character data, scenario sign-up, and transfer of cash shop purchases won’t be available, at least initially in the case of cash shop item transfer. Otherwise a variety of parameters can be adjusted by the server host, while available base scenarios will include Manibus, Way of Winter, and RaidZone.
All of this will come at a cost, which isn’t being detailed by Starry right now, but it does promise that it will be handling custom servers directly, which lets them offer the service “at cost with no markup.” Multiple packages for various regions will be offered, but access to these packages will be limited and invite-only. How those invites will be handed out isn’t explained, so ideally more information will be shared when the feature comes online later this week.
