Co-op roguelite Evercore Heroes Ascension patches in demo improvements ahead of June 19 early access

An early access calendar date for Evercore Heroes: Ascension might have seemed like an impossibility if you recall this game’s development track. Dublin-based Vela Games first debuted the title back in 2023 as a competitive PvE MOBA where player teams would race to clear PvE objectives in the fastest time possible. It was almost a killing blow for both the game and the studio, as its paid closed beta stumbled hard enough that layoffs and a server shutdown occurred in order to bring the title back to the drawing board.

That revamp came early this year in the form of Evercore Heroes: Ascension, which turned the title from competitive PvE game to co-op three-player roguelite, and while the game’s Steam Next Fest demo was admittedly too early for playtime, a later demo launched earlier this month. And now, after all of the hurdle jumping, it’s moving into early access on Thursday, June 29th.

The early access version of the game will bring two co-op focused strike missions and three solo run maps, each promising mission objectives that evolve with each run, upgrades to power up characters while delving, and permanent core powers that persist for overall character progression. Speaking of characters, there will be six class-based heroes on offer, and matchmaking will be available for those who don’t have friends who want to shell out $12.49 to dive in (though that price will be at a 20% discount when early access begins).

Evercore promises to share an early access content roadmap sometime before then, but in the meantime the demo is still playable and has even gotten a patch recently that finalizes keyboard and mouse controls, an event that will let players immortalize themselves in the game (somehow), and a long list of fixes for UI, powers, shards, and ability descriptions.
