The Final Fantasy XI Celestial Nights event is unique to the game. It isn’t an adaptation of a real holiday, it’s just an in-universe story about a prince and princess who fell in love with one another across a river but never got together and wound up dying. For some reason, this celebration then awards people yukatas and swimsuits. Such are traditions at times, and do you want to whinge about it or do you want to take part in guiding the actors playing the star-crossed pair to one another’s arms? That’s what we thought.
This year’s event will also feature a new decoration players can put up on the wall in the form of the Duelist’s Board, which gives players a pixel-perfect replica of Prishe for your Mog House. And that’s in addition to the other rewards which, as mentioned, serve as a chance to get your summer fashion on. Take part in the celebration in all the capital cities when it kicks off on July 1st; just make sure you’ve finished getting everything you want by July 15th when it comes to a close.
