Never let it be said that Epic Games isn’t willing to leap on the shiniest bandwagon out there. Readers will no doubt recall that Roblox has been making headlines thanks to Grow a Garden, a crop-growing derivative of the old FarmVille titles that has taken the internet by storm. And now, thanks to streamer and Epic Games partner SypherPK, Fortnite has a garden game all of its own.
Say hello to Go Garden, a seven-player game where players get seeds, plant and tend them, and let them grow even while offline in order to sell for big bucks. The game does have some wrinkles that are unique to it, including seasonal mutations and events that bring new plant types and plant stats, the opportunity to find rare seeds, and what reads like a competitive aspect as players seek to create the best garden.
Eurogamer gave the game a spin and basically found it to be like any number of clicker games that have existed before Fortnite was a gleam in Tim Sweeney’s eye, though the earlier mentioned modifiers along with the fact that some plants are one-and-done crops provides a little bit extra. Or at least enough to keep folks engaged for a bit longer.
