For the past little while we’ve kept our eyes on Necesse, a 16-bit-styled pixel art multiplayer sandbox from indie studio Fair Games that’s been out in early access since 2019. The plucky little mixture of dungeon delver and town builder endeared itself to MOP’s Sam, and we’ve been watching some of its bigger updates go live since.

Well, now we can report that the biggest update in terms of the game’s development is on the horizon: Necesse is leaving early access and hitting 1.0 on Thursday, October 9th. The full release promises multiple new additions including one single large world that seamlessly links biomes together, personality traits for recruitable settlers, and an incursion perk tree that lets players customize their endgame and promises “an old nemesis” at the end.

The announcement also came with a fresh new gameplay trailer that tries to encapsulate all of the moving gears that make up Necesse. More details about 1.0’s features are promised between now and October, but at the very least fans can now begin the countdown.
