The Oort Cloud is thought to be a cloud of icy matter that exists on the outer boundary of the solar system. First proposed by Dutch astronomer Jan Oort in 1950, it seeks to explain the mechanics of comets within our solar system. Meanwhile, in MapleStory, the Oort region is named that because it sounds vaguely cosmic due to the Oort Cloud and it’s where the new Sia Astelle job comes from, so imagine trying to explain any of this to Jan Oort.

You will have to imagine it, since he died in 1992, but it’d be a trip.

Of course, Sia Astelle has a variety of rather cosmic skills and there are plenty of things to do in the Oort region without having to learn lessons about real-world astronomy, but you probably guessed that to begin with. There’s even the new Erda Link system following Sia Astelle’s sixth job advancement; you can learn all about it in the extensive patch notes for this update, dubbed Stargazer, along with the plethora of new quests and events that accompany the new region and job.
