A throwaway comment on Reddit the other day made me vicariously sad: A player named IVRYN posted about “those dudes you have on your friend list who was great and now you see them ‘last logged in 10 years ago'” and oooooooooooof.

I’m in this picture and I definitely do not like it. I just had to transfer my old Lord of the Rings Online guild a while back, and it was actually painful to see some of the names of folks who were long gone and haven’t played with us in more than a decade. The original transfers back in the day lost a lot of folks, honestly, and this transfer nuked the rest. In the end, I decided to roll up a new guild as a fresh start anyway. Those memories are painful.
