This past April we first reported on Eldramoor, a virtual reality MMORPG headed for Kickstarter that promises all of the hallmarks of the genre including monsters to fight, a world to explore, social content, and a player-driven economy. Now, studio Resolute Games has held a developer Q&A stream on its Discord that was mercifully shared to YouTube, which provided a bit more insight into the game. Here are the highlights from the hour-long broadcast:
- There will indeed be PvP, and furthermore there will be gatherables that can only be found in PvP areas. However, those gatherables will be for PvP-specific gear. Furthermore, there will be three PvP zones and warnings that players are entering such a zone.
- On the subject of classes, an Alchemist class that uses potions is confirmed, as is a Monk tank class. Each class will have 20 to 25 skills at launch and will fall into tank or DPS/support roles, but the devs are trying to make stats broad enough that “weird and cool stuff” can be done to make tanking as a mage possible, for example.
- Making gear above common grade is purely player-driven. “That’s all you,” says one of the devs. It’s also confirmed that late-game crafting will be higher-tier dungeon and raid viable, but drops from those encounters will have access to unique gear modifiers. Additionally, direct player-to-player trading will be available, as will an auction house.
- A day/night system will be in-game, along with a weather system, all of which will have an effect on what kinds of things can be gathered.
- Player housing is confirmed: It cannot be customized outside, but the interior is “very customizable” with furniture, decorations, trophies, and even dart boards.
- Gear will have the potential for build-defining modifiers, which will be where most of a character’s power comes from. Leveling up will provide the option to improve stats, but gear sounds like the primary font of power.
- Dungeons will be hand-crafted, offering different puzzles, enemies, and rotating modifiers meant to keep things interesting with every encounter.
- Three races are confirmed: Human, a feline-like race, and a reptilian race.
What wasn’t provided, unfortunately, is any date for the game’s planned Kickstarter opening, but there were certainly a bunch of extra details shared over the course of the video below.
