Throughout its long development, Pantheon has made heavy use of player testers, but some of the test structures are about to change. That’s the takeaway from the latest dispatch on the official site, which explains how Visionary Realms will run its testing moving forward.
According to the devs, there are two types of testing that the team focuses on, focus testing and organic testing, with the former being about focused and in-depth tests on specific changes as opposed to opening up the gates and just letting people play normally.
Under the new system, what the team once called “advanced testers” will now be deemed “focus testers,” and in addition to having a generally larger pool of testers, the team is promising better coordination and steps to avoid burnout from those focus testers. Check out the full dispatch to get a better sense of how the team will be managing the need for people to take on testing challenges from top to bottom; it’s a worthwhile look to anyone curious to see how more intensive game testing works in the first place.
