Pax Dei answers questions about crafting, PvP, PvE, gear, and more in Discord Q&A

If you don’t live, breathe, and swim around in the dank cloud of a game community’s Discord, you might feel bad that you would have missed out on a Q&A session like one held by Pax Dei, which was focused on its upcoming Verse 3 update and how it will change the whole game. However, Mainframe Industries has actually done more legwork than most official game servers do in their entire existence and has actually summarized what was discussed. Holy crap, an actual archive in Discord. Color us astonished.

Of course clicking that link still presumes that you’re signed up as part of the MMORPG’s server, so if you’re not in that bucket and would really not like to be, here’s a general rundown of the highlights.

  • When the game wipes for Verse 3, it will be taking unique relics with it, while gear with zero durability will refund materials and steel gear will convert to pure iron. Faction relics will still remain.
  • Gear answers include confirmation that speed stats are not conferred by gear, chain and plate are both classed as heavy armor, dyeing and helmet hiding will not be available in Verse 3, and durability is not being increased; players will apparently still need to bring multiple gear sets along for longer hunting sessions. Which is a design choice.
  • Not all weapon sets are solo-viable, including healer weapons and (interestingly) tank weapons. Additionally there will be no freeform dual-wielding added but a possible specific pair of weapons, bows can be actually useful for hunting now with a possibility for ranger skills later, and combat XP is earned only in PvE.
  • On the subject of PvP and PvE: Lyonesse still remains the PvP zone, mezzes are disabled for PvP but all other abilities are available, balancing has been done with both activities in mind, PvE grouping is balanced around one tank and one healer, and loot has not been changed but is set to be balanced later.
  • Verse 3 promises to spread material needs out across multiple tiers of crafting progression in order to limit material obsolescence. Otherwise most crafting matters seem to be the same, though there has been rebalancing for cooking carcass yields and recipes and confirmation that higher-tier crafts can be made from PvE materials. Also no crafting from chests and no plans to add the feature. Boo.
  • No new decor has been added in Verse 3, but there is confirmation that work on wall lighting is in progress. Otherwise the patch adds granite and limestone foundation pieces just in case you want to get your modern stone age family fantasy on.

There are a bunch of other tidbits and answers provided, so if you do happen to be in the game’s Discord community, feel free to read the full rundown. And no, the most important question – when Verse 3 will release – has not been answered yet.
