Surviving in the world of DayZ is arguably hard enough, but it could always be harder. Like how about going into a Middle Eastern-styled warzone that features related climate problems and infected creatures that have adapted to the arid environment? Then you’ll be ready to enter the Badlands in 2026. Assuming you’re up for paying whatever this DLC will cost, anyway.
“Set west of Chernarus and bordering Takistan’s frontier, the terrain offers a desolate blend of cracked soil, sand-swept plains, and mountainous divides. Here, every inch of land tells a story of failed invasions, abandoned cities, and the silence that followed decades of war.”
The Badlands DLC promises the biggest map ever added to the game, desert environmental hazards that players will have to mitigate like thirst and drought, and some new loot, cosmetics, and firearms that are tailored to the region on top of the fresh desert zambos wandering around. It’s not all just sand, as players can also expect a mesh of ruined cities, abandoned infrastructure, and military compounds, all in a play space that encourages players to discover secrets, form factions, and perhaps rebuild what was lost. Or just shoot one another errantly.
In other DayZ news, the game has confirmed that all official servers on all platforms are being fully wiped this Tuesday, July 1st, for “the health of the servers” along with a hotfix that seeks to address “several issues.” Details on just why this wipe is necessary weren’t specified, but we presume it’s why anything would need to be wiped. Read into that what you will.
