The inexorable march of time appears to be coming for the tech that’s powering Champions Online, as one player is sharing a screenshot of a popup (archived here on the Wayback Machine) that the superhero MMORPG is ending support for 32-bit operating systems on Monday, June 30th.
The alert comes from a player of 14 years who can’t upgrade (though as players point out, folks with a PC with a 64-bit CPU should be able to install and operate Windows 10 64-bit). Ironically, as our tipster points out, the MMO itself is still running on a 32-bit engine and servers.
It does seem as if a small sub-section of the playerbase will indeed be affected by the move, if a quick browse of the recently opened Discord is any indication; players are recommending a shift to 64-bit, and there’s still no official word from DECA about the matter one way or the other. All the same, those who are affected – or will be affected as of Monday – fairly warned be ye.
