Whatever happened to the WoW-inspired MMORPG Scars of Honor?

We appreciate that it’s been a while since we reported on Scars of Honor, the WoW-like MMORPG in development from Beast Burst Entertainment that we started covering in 2024 when it opened its Kickstarter. The game, which has been in development for about five years now, suggests that it will bring back the “golden age” of MMOs, while development updates appeared to tail off after a test round last October.

So, whatever happened to this one? Well there was a day-long open stress test last November, but then it was radio silent through the remainder of last year until the start of this month, when Beast Burst announced it would stop offering subscriptions – and access to its 24/7 test build as a result. The studio characterized this as part of “a new phase of development, with extensive testing planned for the final quarter of this year.”

After that, the game’s regular preview streams kicked off again this week with a look at an expanded talent tree system that will let players tailor their builds to a specialized playstyle, particularly since characters will only use 20 – 25% of the total talents in a single build; a new minigame-powered gathering system; and the first look at the mobile version, which will be the exact same client as the PC edition and thus allow for cross-platform play.

While timing for the game’s release or future testing wasn’t elaborated on, the devs recommitted to a free-to-play launch with no pay-to-win items, so we assume that the previously mentioned testing for the fourth quarter is still the plan. For now, the full June devstream can be watched below.
