Way back in 2022, I posted a Daily Grind about MMOs that live rent-free in our heads – the negative kind, the kind “eating all the chips in your cupboard and drinking all your booze and sleeping on your couch” without “reimbursing you for all the resentment you’re carrying around.” It’s “[t]ime to kick it out,” I said, and y’all presented me with a long list of MMOs that piss you off that you needed to let go of. You’re very good at this!

We’re not doing that today. I mean, you can do that today if you like, but in this Daily Grind, we’re going to talk about the MMOs that live rent-free in your head but aren’t jerks. They’re the kind of MMO you sort of forget about most of the time, but then suddenly you’ll remember it fondly. You’re not even sorry when it happens. You’re not playing it right now, but you still have great memories about it. Maybe it’s not uninstalled. Maybe you kept all your screenshots. Maybe you’re even now thinking about going back, but even if not, you’re happy to just keep it around. It can hang out in your guest room a while longer.
