The beginning of next week promises to be a big one for Monster Hunter Wilds players as the next free content patch, appropriately named Title Update 2, will offer up new fights and features on Monday, June 30th.
Headlining the patch is the return of a pair of classic monsters: Lagiacrus, the underwater leviathan that will indeed see players fighting it on land and dealing with it underwater; and Seregios, the spikiest and fastest wyvern, but you can call him Steve. Everybody else does. Both of these monsters will first be at HR 31, after which tempered versions will spawn at HR41 and up. Speaking of harder hunts, an arch-tempered Uth Duna will also be arriving for a limited time in both an event quest and challenge quest.
Another big ticket feature is the ability to craft layered weapons (aka weapon transomg) for both the hunter and Palico. Unlocking weapon skins is a matter of crafting the final weapon in a tree, fully reinforcing rarity eight artian weapons, or crafting high rank Palico weapons. Further customization is promised with the ability to switch the handler NPC and selectable support hunters including two new characters.
The update is bringing a wide assortment of quality-of-life updates like new features for photo mode that can remove specific NPCs, item boxes that can be found outside of base camp tents and placed at pop-up camps, further graphic setting features, and automatic selection of armor spheres and reinforcement materials. The patch will also prepare for the Festival of Accord: Flamefete summertime event that promises unique meals, items, and gestures starting July 23rd.
Finally of note are a suite of weapon changes. As one might expect, things get granular here, but some highlights include some more dodging options and damage buffs for dual blades, more damage and offset attacks for hammer, tweaks to the types of damage for the charge blade, and some lowered gauge consumption for the switch axe, among several other updates. There are multiple fixes and VRAM optimizations outlined too, so it might be worth your time to read up the full set of patch notes.
